Business Law - Contracts

Follow the link to an article about the "robot" that held a city's cars for ransom. Read the article and think about what could have been written into the contract before the garage was built to prevent the problem. Then come back and answer the questions below.

1. What mistake(s) did the city make when agreeing to the software purchase / license when they first contracted to build the garage?

2. If you were the city planner of another city that was considering building this type of parking garage what terms would you insist on putting into the contract before you signed it?

3. Do you think software designers should be able to have so much controll on a project or business after their customers buy the use of the designer's software?

4. How would you feel if YOUR car was in that parking garage during the dispute? Who would you blame the city or the software designer?
